2018 Rural Sanitation Survey

Geography: North India

The 2018 Rural Sanitation Survey visited 1,558 households, and interviewed 156 local government officials, in rural Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh in late 2018.  This survey sheds light on what the SBM did, and on changes in open defecation since 2014. Our survey is informative about changes because we revisited households from our prior 2013-2014 survey of sanitation attitudes and beliefs.

The survey questionnaire, translated into English, can be found here.
