On October 2, 2014, Prime Minister Modi gave a clarion call to make India open defecation free by the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Now that Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary is approaching, Rukmini S explores how far has rural and urban India come in increasing the toilet coverage and in getting people to use latrines.
