Jobs!

r.i.c.e. and JPAL are looking for a Research Associate to manage an exciting new project in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu on promoting latrine use in rural Tamil Nadu. We intend to try 3 unique strategies which have never been tried before, and have been developed based on research into the barriers to latrine use.

The RA would oversee quantitative data collection by a team of surveyors, conduct qualitative interviews with households and government officials, coordinate the implementation of the 3 strategies, and publicize research findings. This will require coordination with the GoTN, the research team, other implementing partners, and perhaps the media. The RA would report to the principal investigators on the project, which include academics at Princeton and Dartmouth.

Most of the principal investigators are affiliated with r.i.c.e., which is a small organization based in Delhi that cares a lot about supporting its staff. While the RA will be primarily responsible for managing field activities, there will likely be opportunities for collaborating with principal investigators on academic and/or popular media articles.

We are looking for someone who is excited about spending time learning about the attitudes and behaviours of rural Tamilians. Towards this end, proficiency in Tamil is a must. Strong organizations skills, written and oral communication skills, and self-motivation are also a priority.

We are looking to fill this position immediately. If you are interested in applying, please send your CV, cover letter, and writing sample of not more than 1,000 words to sangita@riceinstitute.org. The deadline for applying is 15th July.
