Nazar is a PhD student in Demography and Population Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his MA and MPhil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University.  His research interests include poverty, inequality, health, education and social and economic mobility.

With r.i.c.e., he has managed a phone survey that measures discrimination against women, Dalits, and Muslims, and a household panel survey about sanitation behaviour in rural north India.  He is currently investigating why households find it difficult to switch to clean fuel use despite benefits for health.

r.i.c.e. is a non-profit research organization focused on health and well-being in India. Our core focus is on children in rural north India. Our research studies health care at the start of life, sanitation, air pollution, maternal health, social inequality, and other dimensions of population-level social wellbeing.
