Louis is senior advisor to the Osprey Foundation and a consultant on effective approaches to international development and impact investing.  Louis founded and led the water, sanitation and hygiene program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from 2005 to 2013.  Prior to that, he worked for 15 years at International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, where he led the environmental finance team from 1997 to 2004.  Louis holds a BA in economics from Yale University and an MBA and MA from Stanford University.  He also sits on the board of Sanergy.

r.i.c.e. is a non-profit research organization focused on health and well-being in India. Our core focus is on children in rural north India. Our research studies health care at the start of life, sanitation, air pollution, maternal health, social inequality, and other dimensions of population-level social wellbeing.
