John works for an investment management firm in New York. He holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University, where he studied the impact of India’s Employment Guarantee Scheme on migration and wages. He has spent twelve months living in India, part of which was spent designing and implementing a household survey with Dean and Diane. In other work, he studied ways to design micro-finance credit contracts to encourage business investment.

r.i.c.e. is a non-profit research organization focused on health and well-being in India. Our core focus is on children in rural north India. Our research studies health care at the start of life, sanitation, air pollution, maternal health, social inequality, and other dimensions of population-level social wellbeing.
