Media1 min read

In exploring the health and economic impacts of open defecation in India, The Economist uses SQUAT data to show why construction alone will not be sufficient to encourage latrine use. The article also uses SQUAT’s companion qualitative study to argue that cultural perceptions of open defecation and latrine use may be an important part of India’s slow progress in creating demand for latrines.
