I have several friends who have done fieldwork in Rajasthan's Churu district, and I was pleasantly surprised (and later disappointed) by this article on efforts to reduce open defecation in the district by Rukmini.

The efforts seem to be paying off, but there are hurdles, such as delays in payments and administrative inefficiency.

In any case, we should try to visit Churu!
