Electricity in the news!

Blog Post1 min read

I'm sure you've all been reading about the enormous power outage. Hundreds of millions of people rich enough to have electricity at all, but not so rich as to have their own generators (which is, in fact, interestingly common) lost electricity for a few days earlier this week.

OK, so I joke, but it actually was a big deal for a lot of people. I understand the Delhi Metro shut down for a day, which in expectation and with some linearity assumptions, means one more traffic death (or, 0.85 more). I narrowly avoided being stranded on a train somewhere between Dehradun and Lucknow.

Still, this seems relevant: "300 Million Without Electricity In India After Restoration Of Power Grid." Perhaps I'm just glad to see sanitation in news, with it.

Incidentially, it's 8:02 am, and that means our electricity just jerked to life, as I wrote, with our daily morning installment.
