Still frowning upon intermarriages | Amit Thorat & Diane Coffey | The Hindu

Media1 min read

In the first of a four-part series, Amit and Diane discuss attitudes towards inter-caste marriage. Using data from a new r.i.c.e. survey called Social Attitudes Research for India (SARI), they find that nearly 50% of the non-Scheduled Caste respondents in Delhi and 70% in Uttar Pradesh said that they would oppose a child or close relative marrying a Dalit.
