This article by Roshan Kishore cites Dean's paper on 'caste and life satisfaction' which recently got published in Economic and Political Weekly.  Dean's article shows  that life satisfaction levels increase with asset holdings and education levels, but caste-wise differences remain for a given level of asset-holding or education. Roshan Kishore uses Dean's paper as an evidence to show that caste matters are still crucial in India and caste-based discrimination persists in every sphere of life.
