Business Standard has published another op-ed, this one focused on incentive compatible policy solutions for open defecation: Getting what you pay for.
We typically write here about open defecation in India, but it's important to be aware of suffering in place where you aren't, too. There is an ongoing cholera outbreak in west Africa. Hat tip to Tricia Gonwa for the story. This article claims that in Ghana they arrest people caught openly defecating ("perpetrators") -- do any readers know whether that is ever true?
